I love tinted moisturizers in general, so I decided to try BeneFit’s You Rebel Lite. I find the whole “tinted moisturizer” thing to be a bit of a misnomer for You Rebel Lite, as this product has the consistency and coverage closer to a light foundation. And the “Lite” isn’t an indication of texture, either – they released this version after complaints from fair-skinned babes that the original You Rebel was a bit too dark, so the name is all about the color. It’s not any less thick and creamy than the original.
Before BeneFit They’re Real, there was Too Faced Lash Injection. Touted as the original end-all be-all falsies in a tube, all the hype surrounding Too Faced Lash Injection Extreme Volume Mascara led me to finally join the club and pick it up. So are the raves we heard true? Well, that depends on what you’re looking for. Read on!
packaging: 2.5/5 – The tube itself is a standard-issue mascara tube – what’s interesting is the applicator brush. The brush is huge, widthwise. It’s a fluffy conventional (non-plastic) brush style, but the stiffer bristles seem to help tame my wily lashes somewhat.
Welcome to Beauty, Defined – a new series where we talk about the meaning and origin of various beauty terms. Check out our inaugural term: do you know what a ferrule is?
fer·rule (feh-rool) n. The usually metal-plated part of a makeup or cosmetics brush directly below the bristles that secures the hair bundle and attaches to the brush’s handle. Though the word is derived from the Latin word for “iron”, popular makeup brand M·A·C Cosmetics’ ferrules are nickel-plated.
Over to the right, you can see a ferrule in action on a BeneFit Slant Powder Brush. Aren’t you glad you know what that’s called now?
