Wanna know the most wonderful thing about the modern state of the Internet? That almost everyone in the world has the ability to publish and create awesome content. We find so many amazing blog posts every day to read, enjoy, and learn from that are written by women from around the world.
My first book Go From Blog to Brand in 30 Days dealt specifically with branding yourself and your website, so I was delighted to find an entire chapter devoted to personal branding in Malene’s book. Malene outlines the visual elements of branding a website with examples from internet fashion giants. Malene goes on to talk about the more philosophical aspects of branding, and resounds with one important point I could not agree with more: treat your blog (fashion or otherwise) like a business.
Jorgensen’s book overflows with usefulness; as I perused her legal, organizational, and financial advice for bloggers, I wished I’d found it back when I began my blogging adventure and spent lots of time on the “error” step of trial-and-error. She even includes a sample business plan to help you make sure you cover all the bases, and monetization advice (the topic covered in my second book The Foolproof Guide to Monetizing Your Blog) for bloggers looking to leverage their site into some dough.
Ladies looking to blog about fashion as a career would be remiss to pass up on How to Become a Fashion Writer. Check it out on Amazon or visit Malene’s website to learn more.
As a beauty blogger, I must admit that I am the permanent envy of my friends. (Tough life, right?) Free makeup, skincare and haircare products galore, flexible hours, the right to create what I want – though it’s a lot more work than most people recognize, I definitely see the appeal from the outside. As such, I’m constantly asked one burning question:
“How do I start a beauty blog?”
Seriously – I get asked this question on almost a daily basis. It’s one of the reasons I wrote my book Go From Blog to Brand in 30 Days, though that’s really targeted more toward the current blogger who wants to take their site to the next level. That’s why I was delighted when I discovered a book on Amazon that covers this exact topic. Malene Jorgensen’s book How to Start a Beauty Blog: Building a Beauty Empire Online is a great reference for the beginning blogger.
While I rarely if ever divert from the discussion of beauty here on Sassy Dove, the release of my first book is one of the few events that warrants such a diversion. Many of my readers are also my fellow bloggers, and they wonder how to create a successful, profitable blog themselves. I’m giving you a free opportunity to find out just that!
I wrote Go From Blog to Brand in 30 Days because I have been blogging profitably since 2007, and I’ve been asked one million estimated times how to make a blog successful and revenue-friendly without selling your soul. I went to college for merchandising and I learned that the most important concept in creating and marketing any product, blog or otherwise, is creating a recognizable brand. If you’re ready to turn your blog into a real-life, profit earning business, you’ve got to brand it first. Thus,Go From Blog to Brand in 30 Days was born. It’s an entertaining, easy-to-read instructional guide that will take you step by step through transforming your blog into an empire that will fuel your success for years to come.
