Lovely Lingerie From Adore Me

adore me lingerie bra and panty set reviewLike most women, one of my great joys in life is some luxurious undies. But many of us are plagued by the high prices and limited size selection at the big boys of the lingerie industry. Get a clue: not all of us are sized like or paid like Heidi Klum, people.  Continue reading “Lovely Lingerie From Adore Me”

Panty Styles U By Kotex Feature

U By Kotex & Panties For Every Occasion

panty styles for every occasionIt’s a topic we’re encouraged not to discuss: panties. What you wear outside is fair game for fashion blogs the world over, but there’s a reason what’s underneath that topic layer of clothing is referred to as your “unmentionables”. Well, here on Sassy Dove we like to break with convention and say screw taboo – let’s talk undies.

U By Kotex 3D Capture Core Ultra Thin Heavy FlowU by Kotex gets it – they know our lovely skivvies are constantly ruined by “that time of the month”, and they want to help with their #SaveTheUndies campaign.

Today we’ll be discussing the most rarely visible kind of fashion (but that’s okay, it’s the one you get to see, and you’re the most important audience). in Latin class we used to make a bad joke: “Semper ubi sub ubi”. It means, literally, “Always where under where”. (Get it?) But what panty type is best when?

Without further ado, here are my picks for the best kinds of panties for various occasions:

Panties For Workouts

Color doesn’t matter. The word here is seamless in the crotch. Having an unfortunately placed seam is devastating in an intense workout. I know, I’ve been there. Something without elastics in the leg holes is also best, to avoid constricting your blood flow. Continue reading “U By Kotex & Panties For Every Occasion”

How to Become a Fashion Writer

How to Become a Fashion Writer Review

How to Become a Fashion WriterYou may recall my review of Malene Jorgensen’s book How to Start a Beauty Blog. Malene has written another lovely piece you ladies might be interested in entitled How to Become a Fashion Writer, devoted to fashion blogging. As with the first one, I was not disappointed.

My first book Go From Blog to Brand in 30 Days dealt specifically with branding yourself and your website, so I was delighted to find an entire chapter devoted to personal branding in Malene’s book. Malene outlines the visual elements of branding a website with examples from internet fashion giants. Malene goes on to talk about the more philosophical aspects of branding, and resounds with one important point I could not agree with more: treat your blog (fashion or otherwise) like a business.

Jorgensen’s book overflows with usefulness; as I perused her legal, organizational, and financial advice for bloggers, I wished I’d found it back when I began my blogging adventure and spent lots of time on the “error” step of trial-and-error. She even includes a sample business plan to help you make sure you cover all the bases, and monetization advice (the topic covered in my second book The Foolproof Guide to Monetizing Your Blog) for bloggers looking to leverage their site into some dough.

Ladies looking to blog about fashion as a career would be remiss to pass up on How to Become a Fashion Writer. Check it out on Amazon or visit Malene’s website to learn more.

Sassy Dove Talks Fashion

Sassy Dove Talks Fashion

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Like most ladies, beauty isn’t my only girly interest; I’m also a lover of fashion. I’m fascinated by the beautiful models, high gloss photography and the elegant, sometimes artistic nature of it.

preppy fashionMy favorite fashion trends are preppy, conservative looks a la Blair Waldorf. I love Peter Pan collars, bows, and neutral colors. Charlotte from Sex & The City is my fashion idol – I love her buttoned-up Ralph Lauren look. Prints of tiny graphic animals are amass in my closet to the point of being a joke among my friends. I’m also very keen on tights, leggings and over-the-knee socks and boots, and my closet is filled with skirts and dresses to accompany them. I almost never wear pants or jeans. Prep school galore!
