Dude. Fat is, like, kind of a jerk. Take mine, for instance. Ever since childhood, whether my activity level at the time was best described as Prima Ballerina or Master Pringles Handler, I’ve had the dreaded “thunder thighs”. Saddlebags. Ya know, offensive names for excess thigh fat that refuses to dissipate despite the number of Herkies and burpees you perform. NOT cool, bro. My appetite is crazy. My sleep is often erratic. And while I don’t suffer from clinical depression, I definitely struggle with mood issues every now and again (usually about once per month…).
Sound familiar? That’s because most of us experience the same struggles – but we don’t usually want to resort to prescriptions and doctors’ appointments to solve them. Rather than dealing with harsh side effects and addictive properties of pharmaceuticals, we just live with the symptoms. But what if there was a milder, non-prescription way to solve our problems? I recently went on a fabulous summer vacation to my hometown, which just so happens to be a lazy beach town. It was a glorious week of fried seafood, boat drinks, music, sand and surf… but dietary discipline was not on the menu. (Nor should it be on any vacation.)
Consequently, upon my return I noticed that I’d somehow while on hiatus reached the size of a house. Well, maybe not a house, but at least a small condo. The scale read a number I can’t even repeat, and I mourned the loss of my once bikini-ready body.  Moreover, I vowed to see it return.
Enter BikiniBOD, which happened to fall into my life at just the right time. It’s a supplement that acts as an appetite suppressant, metabolism booster and beauty-enhancing vitamin in one. Plus, it’s made by women, for women. Girl power!
So what’s in this stuff that makes it so special? Check it out: Continue reading “Take the BikiniBOD Challenge #myBikiniBOD” »
All too often, subscription boxes can leave us feeling – well, boxed in. I don’t know about you, but I like more than just beauty, or just fashion, or just fitness products. But I don’t have unlimited funds to get subscription boxes each month for all the kinds of products I like.
Enter FabFitFun, a seaÂsonal subÂscripÂtion gift box with full-size fashÂion, beauty, fitÂness and lifestyle goodies. Since it’s a mix, I wasn’t sure if all the products in FabFitFun’s box would appeal to me, but as soon as I opened the Summer 2015 box, I was delighted. They just GET me. It felt like Christmas in July, and I didn’t even shop on Prime Day. Continue reading “FabFitFun Summer 2015 Box Review” »
If you’ve tried eating healthily and exercising in the quest for body beautiful but aren’t seeing the results you crave, liposuction is a great way to target stubborn areas of your body that just aren’t responding to your regime.
But before you go under the knife, it’s important to understand what you’re signing up to and be prepared with the right questions to ask your surgeon…
How long can you afford to be down?
Depending on the type of liposuction you’re getting done and the area of your body you’re targeting, the recovery time can vary. Some people only need two or three days while others can need weeks of recovery time until they feel able to get on with their lives. Your doctor will be able to give you an estimate of what downtime to expect, but everyone’s different.
Make sure you’re able to take the necessary time off work, especially if your job involves lifting or strenuous physical activity. If you can’t afford a lot of downtime, pick a minimally invasive procedure like vaser liposuction available from The Sloane Clinic, which achieves fast results using ultrasound technology to break down fat cells without weeks of swelling. It’s also less likely to cause bruising and bleeding than other forms or surgical liposuction, which makes it far less disruptive to your normal life.
