Three Gorgeous Ways to Wear Bangs

3 ways to wear bangs taylor swift

Bangs are the hottest new-old trend in hairstyles – even I recently added some fringe to my ‘do! Here’s are a few different basic styles of bangs. Check them out, pick one you like best and bravely march into your hair salon demanding a new style. Don’t be scared – it’s just hair!

Medium-Straight-Bob-with-Thick-Blunt-BangsBlunt-Cut Bangs

A perennial favorite of models, these bangs are cut to just below the eyebrow, straight across the forehead. Blunt cut bangs give the illusion of thickness, making them a great choice for those with fine hair. To create this look, hairstylists take a center triangle section (a tri-bangle, if you will) of hair beginning at the top of your scalp and cut the ends upward to create fullness. This triangle is referred to some as your “fringe”, even though fringe can really refer to any kind of bangs.

To make this hairstyle look modern and sleek, curl your bangs from underneath for added fullness, then style with a shine cream like L’Oreal Studio Line Smoothness Glossing Cream.

A feathery hairstyle cut below the brow that’s universally flattering, these bangs work especially well for thick hair. (That’s what Jennifer Lawrence is so surprised about over there.)

Pro Tip: to keep the look modern, don’t have your stylist blend the bangs into the layers around your face – it looks too much like the “Rachel”, which is oh so very 1996. Similarly, don’t try to structure it too much – this style is best with a little mess. (Type A girls need not apply!)

To style, blow dry your hair first, leaving your bangs slightly damp. Separate them with your fingers and use a styling spray like Biolage Bodifying Spray Gel to make them piecey.

Don’t want the commitment of full-on bangs? Young starlets like Bella Thorne and Hilary Duff are opting for long layered bangs cut so that they taper into the hair on one side. These bangs flatter long face shapes.

To style, brush out the bangs into a long side part, then blend them into your hair with a flat iron. A little shine serum won’t hurt, either.

P.S. Taylor Swift is a big fan of bangs – so big that’s she’s literally worn all three of these styles:

  1. Hey there Cailin!

Thanks so much for joining the I’m Every Woman Weekly Linky party!

I’ve always liked the way bangs look but I could never get the look I want…mainly like a celebrity. I guess it’s the beautician, huh ;).

My hair is ready for a trim and I’ve thought about bangs so I just might…you got me thinking about this now :).

Happy Thursday! So nice to be connecting!

  2. Hi! Stopping by from the Every Women link up.
I’ve always liked the look of bangs, but I’ll admit I’m scared of taking the plunge. Plus, I’d fear they’d get in the way when I’m chasing my kids.

Hope you have a great Friday and weekend!

  3. I’m one of those women that ALWAYS where’s bangs. They are more of the piecey type and cut in different lengths. Why? Because I trim them myself. 😉 These are great looks!

  4. Hey Cailin, Stopping by from I’m Every Woman Weekly. Welcome! I used to always have bangs. I had a scar right in the middle of my forehead from an unfortunate meeting with a shovel. However, as I’ve gotten older (and the scar has faded) I’ve moved away from bangs to a more “side-sweep” cut. But then again, I’m not much for following trends! Have a great weekend.
