Ladies, I have found the impossible: a product for my eyebrows that I completely adore. Not one that I like. Not one that simply works well. No, this is a product I am wholly, deeply in love with.
Anastasia Beverly Hills is the reigning queen of eyebrow grooming – what an odd title! – but they’ve surpassed even themselves with their new Brow Pen. What is it? Simply, it’s a small marker-like pen with a flexible tip that fills in your eyebrows with soft, even, natural looking color in mere seconds.
Despite all the hype, I didn’t love the original Too Faced Lash Injection mascara the way the rest of the world seemed to. My biggest problem with it was the same issue many other ladies had: the brush was massive! Seriously, I could comb my hair with it. So when Too Faced introduced Lash Injection Pin Pointwith all the lash-tubing goodness of the original with a more reasonably sized brush, I was instantly interested.
Pin Point uses the same formula as the original Lash Injection, but the new brush is a skinny version that definitely defines and separates lashes better. It’s much easier to cover the base of your lashline without stabbing yourself in the eye, and this version found my wussiest lashes with ease.
Those of you who read Sassy Dove often know that I love intense, wild eyeshadow colors, so I was excited to try Bobbi Brown’s metallic eyeshadows collection. Voted Best Eye Shadow by Self Magazine, the line includes a large range of colors that piqued my artsy interest.
I was pleased by the many shade choices which ran the gamut from pale pink and lavender to dark brown and navy. Bobbi’s line is more shimmery and pearly than glittery, making it easy to avoid the drag queen effect that often accompanies more luminous makeup. However, the muted sparkle makes the darker shades look less metallic than the lighter ones. My favorites from this line: Champagne Quartz, Pink Pearl, Sage and Velvet Plum.
With all of the blanket cosmetics lines out there promising solutions for your every beauty need, it’s refreshing to see a company like Anastasia Beverly Hills, which focuses on creating beautiful brows. The centerpiece of Anastasia’s novel collection of products is the Five Piece Brow Kit, a complete set of tools focused on delivering full circle DIY eyebrow beauty.
The kit comes in a range of colors suitable to every brow color found in nature; I tried it in Caramel. The products included are:
Everyone loves a good makeup palette, especially when it’s from Bobbi Brown. Bobbi’s Mauve Collection is a limited edition line with refreshingly neutral colors; when it seems every cosmetics company is debuting intense pigments, it’s nice to get quality colors that are still wearable.
The Mauve Collection’s palette is a black, sleek, modern affair with a blush, 3 eyeshadows and 3 lip colors. The blush, called – surprise – Mauve, is a dusty rose and was surprisingly flattering to my warm skin tone. An interesting tidbit: the Mauve Collection was inspired by Ali McGraw’s look in the classic film Love Story.
