InstaNatural Retinol Moisturizer Review

Ryan Gosling Hey Girl Retinoids

Wanna know why I love retinoids like McAdams loves Gosling? It’s because out of all of the thousands of  “anti-aging” ingredients available today, retinoids are the only ones scientifically proven to work on a molecular level. Retinol is the gentler over-the-counter form of retinoids, and they also have scientific evidence to show they work. Perricone MD Firming Neck Therapy

Perricone MD Firming Neck Therapy Review

Another embarrassing secret I’ll share: despite my age (I’m a ripe old 28), I already have some embarrassing turkey-like wrinkles forming on my neck. (Caused by all the head craning when I walk past Sephora’s yummy window displays, no doubt.) To battle the lines while I still have time, I tested Perricone MD’s Firming Neck Therapy.

How does it work? The product has anti-glycating qualities to combat premature wrinkles that develop as a result of excess sugar compounds, which bind to protein fibers and cause them to become dry, brittle and less tensile.

Charli XCX Hair and Makeup Celeb Beauty Secrets

Charli XCX’s Makeup – Max Factor & More

Charli XCX Makeup Azure Eyes For Max FactorThere’s no one hotter in the world of pop than Charli XCX. Between her “Fancy” hook with Iggy Azalea and little-credited contribution to Icona Pop’s “I Love It”, she’s played a bigger role in current music than her The Fault In Our Stars’ single “Boom Clap” suggests. Charli’s appeal is stylishly irreverent, and her hair and makeup always reflect a little “like I give a @&$!” attitude. Continue reading “Charli XCX’s Makeup – Max Factor & More”

Audrina Patridge’s Celebrity Beauty Product Faves

audrina-patridge makeupWant to look like one of the most gorgeous ladies ever to grace reality TV? Former The Hills star Audrina Patridge spilled the details about her beauty routine and product picks, and we’ve got the rundown by category:

Skincare

“I have used Dermalogica since I was 11 years old every morning and every night,” Audrina says. Her skincare routine consists of using Dermalogica cleanser followed by their toner. She finishes up with Dermalogica’s Active Moist Moisturizer. Audrina also occasionally uses Philosophy Purity Made Simple facial cleanser – a favorite of mine! She also loves MD Skin Care.

Eye Makeup

Audrina’s a classic girl, sticking to Maybelline Great Lash Mascara for her long, luscious eyelashes. She says her Dior eyeliner is always in her purse. The celebrity refers to Too Faced Lash Injection as her “secret weapon” and coats her lids with NARS eyeshadow in “Lola Lola”.

The Milky Way: Using Lactic Acid in Skincare

woman with glass of milk skincareDoes milk really do a body good? Cleopatra supposedly thought taking milk baths daily would maintain her gorgeous skin. Was it all for naught, or was the Queen of the Nile onto something?

Milk is an excellent source of lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). But lactic acid already exists in our cells, so the body recognizes and accepts it more readily than it would a fruit-derived AHA. For the same reason, lactic acid creates less inflammation as it assists in new cell growth than other AHAs.

But don’t go jump in a milk bath just yet – homogenized milk will show little to no effect on the skin. Why? Unfortunately, the milk has to sour before the lactose in it can be converted to lactic acid. And no amount of skincare benefits are worth smelling like old cheese all day.
