I’m starting a new series called Makeup Tips – it’s like the short and sweet version of the typical Makeup How-tos posts. (We’re all just trying to get out the door, am I right?) Let me know if you guys like it!
Makeup tip du jour: Want to look polished everyday? Do what Katherine Heigl does, according to Glamour Magazine: brush your brows out every day before leaving the house. Even if you don’t think you have terribly gnarly eyebrow hair…well, it’s probably worse than you think, and it just gives your face that extra finished look. Give it a try – brush some clear mascara over it and check out how cleaned up you look! Continue reading “Makeup Tips: Brush Your Eyebrows!” »
Because of how many products I try, it’s very rare that one really piques my interest anymore. Athena’s 7 Minute Lift is one of the few that has succeeded in doing so. After seeing its slogan “Facelift in a Jar”, I assumed this was your typical glue-like moisturizer that might produce some results after 6 grueling weeks of daily use. Not so! Ladies, if you have wrinkles, sagging skin, laugh lines, or essentially any skin you’d like firmed and smoothed, you cannot miss out on this.
Athena 7 Minute Lift is very unique as products go. First of all, it’s not a cream so much as a thick gel – it comes with a concealer brush that you use to “paint” it onto your face and smooth problem areas. The product comes with detailed instructions on doing so, and even provides a Q&A of what to do if you have any number of problems with or questions about your results.
If you’re young, in a humid climate, or just have naturally oily skin, you know the pains of a greasy, unwashed-looking face. Heck, even living here in the desert, by the time 5pm rolls I’m usually glinting off the bathroom lights like nobody’s business. There’s nothing wrong with a little “fresh from the beach” glow, but when people have to shield their eyes from the glare when looking at you, your mug’s gone way beyond dewy and entered downright drippy.
How can you solve oil problems and beat excess shine? Easy! Simply check out these great tips and affordable! products that you won’t want face the humidity without.
Mineral makeup strikes again! I picked up Revlon’s ColorStay Mineral Eye Shadow in Sunlit Jade, which has shimmery creme, bronze and olive colors. Revlon’s ColorStay 12 Hour shadow is very popular and long-wearing, so I was hopeful about the talc-free version.
Most of the ColorStay eyeshadow shadesare so neutral that they’d work for most any skin tone, but I really wish they’d offered more of the cah-razy colors this Dove loves to wear. But very few ladies are as flamboyant as I am!
This eyeshadow’s texture is fab – it’s ultra smooth and silky feeling. The shadow colors blend really well with each other, and I was able to smooth out most of the harsher olive color without redoing my makeup (yay!).
I don’t have particularly dry skin by nature, but I dohave combination skin and I do live in the desert where the humidity is regular <5%. When I moved to Phoenix from soggy Houston, everything changed: my hair texture, my skin – everything. I switched my blotting papers for serum and tried Clinique‘s Supermoisture Makeup foundation for an extra dose of dewiness.
I have to say this foundation definitely lived up to its name. Due to my recent experience with unusually opaque tinted moisturizers, I was prepared for a super-greasy mask-like experience, but Clinique proved me wrong – a full-coverage foundation doesn’t have to feel goopy or make you look like a geisha!
Supermoisture Makeup foundation is creamy in a good way and very enjoyable to use – blendable with a natural texture that gives me a dewy, youthful finish. The coverage is full, but in a beautiful and flawless way; nothing mask-like about it! Plus, there are 17 shades, a refreshing change from the “one color fits all” attitude of tinted moisturizers. Still, I might steer clear if you have an oil problem, because it’s hydrating to the max.
