You know what’s exceptionally uncool? Being almost 30, and having zits. I think it’s a hormonal thing – once a month, my face goes haywire and my forehead, cheeks and chin become emblazoned with blemishes. SUPER hot. Seriously, wasn’t this supposed to have stopped back when I was a teenager? Continue reading “Proactiv Review First Impressions” »
Pimples. Remember them? Those awful new friends who started invading your face right around the time boys became cute? Some of us didn’t get to leave their torture behind with our impossible-to-remember locker combinations, and are still battling the little buggers daily.
I admit I probably get more pimples than I should, being almost 30. I’m reaching the dreaded simultaneous-wrinkles-and-pimples point of my life wherein everything about my face is either too young or too old. Goldilocks, look out!
I’ve used a lot of serums before, but up to this point I’d never heard of one for treating breakouts. Therefore, Jillian Wright’s Breakout Blocker was of particular interest to me.
Products pumped full of medication can be drying and too harsh for my skin, especially out in the desert. Luckily, this serum is non-irritating, non-drying, and actually reduces redness rather than turning me into a strawberry like the rough stuff. And as I found out from Jillian Wright, when you have less redness, there is less trauma to the skin, hence minimizes premature aging. A lot of you ladies found my advice on blackhead prevention and removal useful, but what if you really need to rid your skin of the tricky little buggers you’ve already got? Not to worry! I’ve created a guide specifically meant to get rid of the blackheads that plague your face already. Here are a few different methods of removing blackheads yourself at home:
I have had problems with blackheads since middle school, and I imagine a lot of you have faced the same issues. (Well, maybe you haven’t, but I’d feel better if I weren’t the only one, so humor me.) As you might assume, I’ve learned a trick or two over the years for ditching these little buggers.
Here’s some tips on both how to prevent your skin from getting blackheads, and how to rid yourself of some of the ones you have now:
I had a monster breakout recently, an event I’ve not experienced since high school. I mean it was scary. Desperate, I used Murad’s Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel, since they’re such a reputable brand in skincare that has served me well in the past. But the worst was yet to come.
Let me get right to the point. The gel has a very intense burning/tingling sensation, and even my normally hard-as-nails skin started itching & stinging. Many Murad acolytes claim using it repeatedly eliminates the itching sensation, but I’ve done it, and no. No, it does not. Each and every time, it has irritated my skin so badly that I had a compulsive need to remove it after application. Of course, being as loyal and hardworking for you guys as I am, I didn’t – I had research to do. Gel piled on giant zits, I spent 2 itchy, frustrating nights letting this stuff work its magic, carefully avoiding touching my skin for fear of transferring oil or rubbing this stuff off.
