Don’t you love the beauty looks of yesteryear? Today, we have a makeup how-to inspired by the classic beauty of bombshell Brigitte Bardot. (Some people think it’s Bridget Bardot, but it’s Brigitte. Like Brigitte Nielsen. Plebeians.)
This look uses the “cat eye” style of eyeliner which has been knocking men on their backs since at least the early ’60s. Here’s the video tutorial on how to achieve this makeup look:
Don’t forget to show your support by LIKING the video and SUBSCRIBING to the Sassy Dove Youtube channel. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of what we do if you’re too lazy to click “play” (as I often am):
Here’s the products we used to get this look:
Step 1: Prep The Skin
Pull your hair back and get ready for makeup. Test foundation on the inside of your wrist if you’re not sure if it matches yet. (Since this was my foundation, I had to find a shade about 100000x lighter for Hope.) Apply concealer to undereye circles, which tend to take away from the whole cat-eye allure if you look like you’re coming off of a bender.
Step 2: Eyeshadow
Prime lids with Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer or similar to make sure your eyeshadow lasts. Apply a mocha-grey shade from lashes to crease, leaving a strip clear on the browbone for highlight. Highlight with a light cream shadow (I used one from the L’Oreal Color of Hope Palette, but you can use like MAC Painterly or any of the millions of them there are in every palette ever.)
Step 3: Eyebrows
Shape them bad boys with an eyebrow razor (the one in the vid is Redpoint, but I actually prefer Japonesque). Don’t take them down too far or make them wussy – the sixties look is all about them brows, ’bout them brows, no tweezin’. Appropriately, fill in with Anastasia Brow Pen (arguably the best. brow product. eVar.) and don’t skimp, but create a nice high arch. Finish with clear brow gel.
Step 4: Eyeliner
Pull the eyelid taut and slick some black liquid eyeliner all the way across, tapering outward into a point to create the classic cat-eye shape. Correct any mistakes with a Q-tip.
Step 5: Mascara
Uhm, apply two coats of mascara? Like a normal human? Why are you reading this step? It’s seriously not that hard. Try to hit all your lashes and don’t be a dummy. I used L’Oreal Voluminous Extra Collagen here, but honestly there are lots better black mascaras out there.
Step 6: Eyeliner Again
This time we’re doing pencil liner. Line the lower eyelids just under the lashes all the way across with a dark brown pencil liner. Line the lower waterline with a white eyeliner pencil (mine is NARS Iceberg and it is the freaking business).
Step 7: Lips
Apply a totally awesome nudie/pinkie/shimmery lipstick that makes your lips look massive like MAC Close to Real. It’s a total bombshell shade. Bada bing, you’re ready for beach blanket bingo!

BTdubs… Brigitte Bardot may have invented duckface.
Seriously. Here’s the proof:
She still hasn’t grown out of it either:
Duckface…. #icantquityou
Whaddya think? Who’s your favorite bombshell? Should I do a Jayne Mansfield tutorial?
Wow… She grew old gracefully! LOve this post
Sexy. I love duckface. Hahah. This is great. Too funny esp the part about mascara.
