Charli XCX’s Makeup – Max Factor & More

Charli XCX Hair and Makeup Celeb Beauty Secrets

Between her “Fancy” hook with Iggy Azalea and little-credited contribution to Icona Pop’s “I Love It”, she’s played a bigger role in current music than her The Fault In Our Stars’ single “Boom Clap” suggests. Charli’s appeal is stylishly irreverent, and her hair and makeup always reflect a little “like I give a @&$!” attitude.

“Max Factor approached me and told me about the wild collection and I loved it,” Charli says. “It’s reflective of who I am as an artist and a person and thought it was just the perfect fit.”

“I love a good mascara,” she gushes. “The Max Factor WILD Mega mascara is what I’m wearing now, it’s really quick to apply and you really don’t have to wear anything else.”

“The Max Factor Wild Savage Rose eyeshadow is glittery amazingness! Normally, on a day-to-day basis, I just wear a black slick of eyeliner – but onstage I add one of the new shadows and get more of a bold, feline shape.”

“My fashion choices and beauty reflect each other… I’ve always lent towards more grungy, almost gothic clothes. At the moment, I’m really into tartan skirts and shirts, like my take on a schoolgirl / cheerleader look done in a Siouxsie Sioux kind of way.”

(Psst. To my younger [or older] readers – if you don’t know Siouxsie and the Banshees, jump on Spotify and educate yourself. There would be no Charli without Siouxsie.)

  1. That eyeshadow is so bright and pretty, but I would never be brave enough to wear it, and it doesn’t help that I stink at applying eyeshadow. If I go for the smokey look, it ends up as more of a punched-in-the-eye look.

  2. That green eyeshadow is awesome. I could never pull it off but my daughter would love it. She is ten and always puts on outrageous colors but it actually looks good on her lol.

  3. If only I had the guts to wear those eye-shadows…I am such a natural/nude/pinks color lover- I am just not daring enough! But they look awesome on her 🙂

    1. Hi Katie – this Max Factor line is highly pigmented, but to get the brightest effect, I suggest using a primer on lids first and then applying wet. You can use the same shadow dry on top to “set” the wet shadow. It makes it really pop!
