It’s tough to find an exfoliant on the market that satisfies me. Either the beads are too squishy to really slough off anything, the formula is too creamy, or my skin ends up feeling like I’ve tenderized it into beef carpaccio.
Naturally, I take my typical bootstrapping approach and create my own exfoliant! Here are a few of my favorite recipes for all natural, cheap exfoliants you can create in your own kitchen:
- Combine about 1 tablespoon of raw sugar and a teaspoon of olive oil so that the mixture is spreadable. This exfoliant is great for fine lines and wrinkles, where ladies often remember to moisturize but forget to exfoliate. (Naughty!)
- Create a paste with water and a packet of instant oatmeal. Rub this mixture into your face and rinse off any residue. This mixture is great for oily skin, since the oatmeal absorbs excess oils.
- Dampen your body with a washcloth soaked in warm water, then rub sea salt all over. Sea salt is particularly excellent for those with psoriasis.
