I’m sure you saw my sterling review of InstaNatural’s Retinol Moisturizer, and you know from my informative article on liposomes that serums are some of the most effective ways of getting ingredients into your skin. So the brand’s retinol serum was a natural progression. Continue reading “InstaNatural’s Age-Defying Retinol Serum Review” »
As we all age, it becomes more and more important to protect our skin from free radicals – the evil little sources of skin damage that come from sun exposure, drinking, smoking, age and all kinds of other environmental factors. That’s why you’ve heard so much about antioxidants – they help fight the oxidizing effect of free radicals, which – not to get too scientific – is when they steal from your existing healthy cells to try to make themselves “complete”, causing a breakdown of your skin cells.
Vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidants out there, and that’s why I recommend you use it daily in your skincare regimen. Hello dolls! I got the opportunity to try a FAB new product from skincare giant Dermalogica: their Skin Hydrating Booster. Spoiler alert: my skin is LOVING it!
The Skin Hydrating Booster is a super hydrating fluid that intensely moisturizes thirsty skin as it smooths and minimizes fine lines. As you may know, I’m obsessed with skincare science. This water-based, non-greasy formula contains hyaluronic acid, which holds one thousand times its weight in water for powerful hydration. If you haven’t tried hyaluronic acid, you really should. So adding some back in CAN’T hurt!

(Meanwhile, men spend thousands of dollars a year in a similar quest for the largest TV in the neighborhood. Which is a more noble pursuit is your call.) But the real secret to looking luminous at age 25 or 45, the universal truth that’s so simple but yet so many of us refuse to accept for some reason, is one we probably all know already: hydrate. However, the secret may not be as simple as you think, and you may not be practicing this truth in the best way for your skin.
I know you’ve heard it everywhere: “Drink eight glasses of water a day.” The unfortunate truth about drinking water for your skin is that water will reach all the other organs before it reaches the skin. Plus, the effects from drinking water aren’t lasting, and drinking excess water will only cause you to pee it out. (Gross, but true.)
