How a New Skincare Routine Changed My Life

I know, I know. You saw the title of this post and thought, “yeah, yeah, yeah. That’s what they always say.” And so would I have, six weeks ago. Commercials would have you believe that every product ever is a life-changer, and we know that from experience to be false.

The ladies who created the skincare routine I’m referencing, Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields, actually discussed this in a screencast we did together. They noted how women today are highly skeptical of what can be achieved with a topical product – and why shouldn’t we be, when it seems that none of them work?

I was one of these women. I was also a daily makeup junkie. I had the entire StriVectin skin line, as well as an arsenal of other skin care warriors at my disposal.  I spent at least a half hour a day in front of the mirror doing my makeup. Sure, I enjoyed it, but I also felt I needed it because of the condition of my skin.

I’ve only worn makeup on my skin once for a special occasion since (of course I still wear mascara and liner – I gotta be me), and even then, I felt disappointed when I looked at it. There’s just something so freeing about being naturally beautiful; about not being afraid to touch your face; about never worrying that when you smile the makeup around your eyes and smile will crinkle into visible cakey lines.

I feel naturally beautiful now – like a model, someone who doesn’t need makeup – who’s pretty from the inside out. Truly, it has changed my daily routine and the way I live my life.
