Moroccanoil Hair Treatment, And Why Buying Argan Oil Supports Women

moroccanoil review product linemoroccanoilI used to regularly dye, flat iron, blowdry and otherwise abuse my hair, and even though I’m reformed, my current ends still remember the traumas of days gone past. I’m always looking for a product I can pamper it with as sort of an apology. Hairstylists often recommend Moroccanoil Hair Treatment for dry, overprocessed hair, and as you might guess, they know their stuff.

Why all the hype? The secret is argan oil, which was a well-kept secret of the Middle East until the founder of Moroccanoil got an amazing oil treatment in Israel.

The coolest part of using argan oil is the impact you get to have on the lives of the women who harvest it. Yes, I said women.

Much of the argan oil produced today is made by a number of women’s cooperatives. Employment in the cooperatives provides women with an income, which many have used to fund education for themselves or their children. It has also provided them with a degree of autonomy in a traditionally male-dominated society and has helped many become more aware of their rights.

This makes argan oil officially the coolest and most socially aware beauty breakthrough we’ve had in a long time. What better cause than making the lives of women around the globe better?

Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny Serum Review

paul-mitchell-super-skinny-serum-reviewHappy Tax Day! I hope you filed already! 🙂

Working in a salon, you eventually find your favorite products to use on yourself and others. One of mine would have to be Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny Serum, a product from their smoothing line.

I used this product on nearly every client at the salon because it reduces drying time. Just rub one pump into damp hair, then blow dry. Super Skinny Serum helps keep down frizz and dry hair more quickly while adding shine. It can be used on just about anybody, and all it takes is one pump! A little goes a long way.

The only negative: if your hair’s too thin or fine, this product could weigh it down and make it look oily. Try to test it out before you buy if you’re worried, and use only a little at a time, building it in to make sure you don’t oversaturate your hair.

The verdict: 9 out of 10! Great for anyone in need of frizz control and added shine.

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Smoothing Serum sells at Amazon.com for $19.88.

Makeup Reviews: L’Oreal Infallible Lip Gloss

L'oreal Infallible Lip GlossMy rule on longwear lipcolor has always been to divide the number of hours it claims to last by three to get a closer estimate of how long the product will stick around. The hardest part, though, is finding lip gloss that actually looks good while it stays on. Luckily, I’ve discovered L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lip Gloss.

The applicator tip is the key to this product’s genius – it’s bent at an angle, making it easy to apply the gloss evenly in just one swipe per lip, while the pointed tip makes neatly covering the outer corners of lips and the arches under the Cupid’s bow a breeze.

L’Oreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss Conditioning Treatment Review

LOreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss Conditioning Treatment reviewAfter trying L’Oreal’s Vive Pro Color shampoo and conditioner, I didn’t think another drugstore haircare product could beat it. I’m happy to report that L’Oreal has outdone themselves with the Vive Pro Nutri Gloss line, and that my skepticism over the “mirror shine, cashmere touch” tagline has been disproven.

Makeup Reviews: Bobbi Brown Mauve Face Palette

Bobbi Brown Mauve Collection Face lookEveryone loves a good makeup palette, especially when it’s from Bobbi Brown. Bobbi’s Mauve Collection is a limited edition line with refreshingly neutral colors; when it seems every cosmetics company is debuting intense pigments, it’s nice to get quality colors that are still wearable.

The Mauve Collection’s palette is a black, sleek, modern affair with a blush, 3 eyeshadows and 3 lip colors. The blush, called – surprise – Mauve, is a dusty rose and was surprisingly flattering to my warm skin tone. An interesting tidbit: the Mauve Collection was inspired by Ali McGraw’s look in the classic film Love Story.
