MAC Studio Fix Fluid Review

Shortly after I ran out of RawMinerals foundation, I began using MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid, which caught my eye because of the full coverage and SPF 15 it offers. I had heard from a friend that it worked great, and her skin always looked perfect.

I was not disappointed. When applied, my skin looks glorious: slightly dewy and completely flawless, just as it did on my friend. I’ll admit: I was pretty much obsessed with how this foundation made me look.

This obsession did not last.

Makeup Reviews: By Terry Light Expert Foundation

By Terry Light Expert Foundation ReviewTerry de Gunzburg is the creator of Yves Saint Laurent’s superstar Touche Eclat Radiant Touch and founder of the high-end line By Terry. I was lucky enough to try By Terry’s Light Expert Foundation, and I’m happy to report I was impressed.

This product needs a little explanation – basically, the foundation comes with a brush attached (reminiscent of its YSL counterpart). Luckily, if you’re not comfy with applying foundation with a brush you can always use your fingertips. (I tried it in #101 Beige Light, if you’re curious.)

Makeup Reviews: Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation

adriana-lima-and-maybelline mineral power liquid foundation reviewMaybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Foundation is the liquid version of Maybelline’s Bare Escentuals-esque mineral powder foundation. I tried it in Light Beige, and I have to say that the shade bordered a bit on orange-y. My skin has warm yellow undertones so I’m not exactly complaining, but who’s heard of an orangey beige?

This SPF 18 foundation offers an on-the-fence type of coverage, definitely not sheer and definitely not full. While it seemed to mask minor discoloration like dark undereye circles well, my blemishes showed right through, so plan on using a concealer in conjunction with this baby if you’ve got zits.

Face Makeup Reviews: Clinique Supermoisture Foundation

Clinique SuperMoisture Makeup Foundation ReviewI don’t have particularly dry skin by nature, but I do have combination skin and I do live in the desert where the humidity is regular <5%. When I moved to Phoenix from soggy Houston, everything changed: my hair texture, my skin – everything. I switched my blotting papers for serum and tried Clinique‘s Supermoisture Makeup foundation for an extra dose of dewiness.

I have to say this foundation definitely lived up to its name. Due to my recent experience with unusually opaque tinted moisturizers, I was prepared for a super-greasy mask-like experience, but Clinique proved me wrong – a full-coverage foundation doesn’t have to feel goopy or make you look like a geisha!

Supermoisture Makeup foundation is creamy in a good way and very enjoyable to use – blendable with a natural texture that gives me a dewy, youthful finish. The coverage is full, but in a beautiful and flawless way; nothing mask-like about it! Plus, there are 17 shades, a refreshing change from the “one color fits all” attitude of tinted moisturizers. Still, I might steer clear if you have an oil problem, because it’s hydrating to the max.

Face Makeup Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish Mineral Foundation

Confession: my Chanel foundation has turned me into a snob. I tried Rimmel’s new and improved version of Lasting Finish 16 HR Foundation with Minerals, fully expecting it to kind of suck just because it’s from the drugstore. What’s happened to me? I used to be so open-minded…well, that and cheap. But this product managed to surprise me!

Face Makeup Reviews Rimmel London 16 Hour Foundation Zooey Deschanel RimmelThe color (I used Soft Beige) matched my skin perfectly. The texture was creamy, but not too thick, and blended easily. The coverage is full but not at all fake-looking, and it somehow manages to look both matte and dewy. (Yeah, I know, what’s that about?)

Bonus: as we speak, it’s lasting all day, even without finishing powder. Is that even possible? Most drugstore foundations are too sticky and disgusting to wear without powder, and rub off at every chance. Kudos, Rimmel! I knew you got Kate Moss somehow! (Sidebar: don’t they have the best taste in spokeswomen? Zooey Deschanel, Lily Cole and the queen of 2D herself?)
