Skincare SOS: How to Rescue and Repair Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin is not easy to deal with, it requires a lot of care and attention. During the winter, sensitive skin can suffer because of the dry, cold air; this may require you to take extra care of it. Therefore, it is essential to have a skincare routine for your skin to avoid discomfort and flare ups.

Below are some tips and skincare advice on how to repair damaged and sensitive skin, read on.

Use Gentle and Natural Products

Gentle and natural products are friendlier to sensitive skin. Some products are specifically designed to be tolerated by all skin type, like the Blue Lagoon skin treatments for example: this skincare line has a mineral moisturizing cream, mineral intensive cream and silica purifying shampoo, all safe for sensitive skin.

Do Intensive Moisture Treatments

Moisturize your face more in the winter because it is constantly exposed to cold dray air, and this can be detrimental if you have sensitive skin. At least 2-3 times per week, apply a sleeping mask with moisturizing ingredients to help you stay nourished overnight without irritation. The ingredients will hydrate your face and you will wake up with a beautiful, dreamy glow.

Apply Face Oils

Facial oils have nutrients and vitamins that give the skin extra nourishment. Use facial oil with fewer ingredients because it is less likely to trigger sensitive skin. You can use jojoba oil with natural anti-inflammatory and healing properties that will help relieve skin irritation. Moreover, it has vitamin E, which is a great antioxidant for the skin.

Always Pat Dry

Make sure you have a face cleaning routine and when washing your face, avoid rubbing; instead, pat dry. People with sensitive skin often react negatively to dirt and debris. Reduce touch with your skin to prevent inflammation. Your face has the most delicate skin on your body. Refrain from scratching because doing so will irritate you.

Protect with Sunscreen all Year Round

The skin can suffer significant injury from the sun’s damaging rays. The sun is the leading cause of wrinkles and dark patches on the skin. It is crucial to apply sunscreen every day, even if you do not have any plans to venture outside or visit the beach. For all-day protection, experts advise using sunscreens with SPH 15 or higher.

Avoid Harsh, Aggressive Treatments

Exfoliating sensitive skin with products such as body scrubs may cause more damage to the skin. A gentle way to exfoliate sensitive skin is using a soft washcloth or a cotton pad. Apply oil such as jojoba on damp skin and use a washcloth to gently move it over your face in circular motions for about 30 seconds. Do this not more than once a week to avoid irritating your skin.

Avoid Products with Fragrance

Products with fragrances can irritate, leading to redness on the skin. Choose fragrance-free products for better skin health and to avoid inflammation.

Always keep in mind that when the skin gets sore, dry, rough and red or gets patches, it is good to visit a dermatologist. The condition may also be due to age or genetic skin disorder leading to what we call sensitive skin.

Are you among the people with sensitive skin? If so, share your skincare routine and how you care for your sensitive skin.

Whip Your Skin Into Shape in 2018! @Olay #ad @Albertsons #winterskinproblems #feelthewhip

Does your skin get dry in the winter? Of course it does. It’s winter. Try living out here in the Arizona desert. After Christmas we Phoenicians look less like goddesses and more like a vintage handbag. Seriously– after a full winter of this dryness, my face feels rougher than a Piers Morgan interview with Tonya Harding. (zzzzing!)

Even if you don’t live in drier climates, winter has some surprising negative effects on skin. Our skin starts to feel the
effects of cold weather when temperatures
drop below 53.6 degrees Fahrenheit. And perhaps most surprisingly, central heating can reduce air humidity levels to the same moisture content as the Sahara Desert (that’s a relative humidity of just 20-25%). So the problem isn’t necessarily the cold weather, but what we have to do to deal with it.  Continue reading Whip Your Skin Into Shape in 2018! @Olay #ad @Albertsons #winterskinproblems #feelthewhip

What if you could completely change your skin in less than a month? What if you did less, not more, to make it happen? As a product junkie, I’d typically be apt to cast a skeptical eye at this proposition, but the Olay 28 Day Challenge tempted me. After all, I’m not one to resist a challenge. How I’m never getting older – or poorer. #Olay #ad #Ageless

#Olay #ad #Ageless  Youthfulness will always be in style, but I feel like lately it’s had even more of a resurgence. Just look at our recent music: the Chainsmokers bravely proclaim “we ain’t never getting older”, Troye Sivan’s aptly named “Youth” notes “we’ve no time for getting old”… are we in denial, or is this goal of permanent youth actually *gasp* achievable?

“Sure,” many of you smirk, “with the right surgeon.” Reality TV alone is proof that a youthful appearance can be bought, but the price tag is no joke. Or is it? Can we reverse the hands of time without taking out a home equity line of credit to foot the bill on poisonous injectables, irreversible surgical procedures or celeb-endorsed $300 ointments made of only the finest free-range bald eagle spit?

The answer is yes. Ladies, welcome to the future. Gone are the days when we had to step beyond the drugstore doors and shell out makeup-counter dollars to get a decent quality skincare product. It’s 2017,  and youth is now within your budget.

But don’t those pricey products work better? That’s what the snobby counter girl WANTS you to think, but the only real added benefits go on her commission check. Consider this: Good Housekeeping Institute did a study on 10 top prestige beauty creams (including one with a $440 price tag), and drugstore powerhouse Olay’s Regenerist Micro-sculpting Cream outperformed them ALL. Say what? Continue reading How I’m never getting older – or poorer. #Olay #ad #Ageless

Anaiti Advanced Neck & Decollete Cream Review [VIDEO]

#AnaitiSkinCare

There are very few sexier areas on a woman’s body than the decolletage. (For those of you who don’t speak French [hmph! Plebeians…], that’s the upper part of a woman’s torso comprising her neck, shoulders, back and chest that is exposed by the neckline of her clothing.)

Unfortunately, this area can also betray your age, as it’s prone to wrinkles like your face but often ignored in our skincare routine. Continue reading Anaiti Advanced Neck & Decollete Cream Review [VIDEO]
