Eye Makeup Inspiration - Multicolored Rainbow EyeshadowEver heard the term “learn to walk before you can run”? There are many ladies out there (myself included) who could apply this lesson to makeup. We see some beautiful makeup, get starry-eyed (pun intended) and start painting on our own faces before we know what’s what. Then we end up looking less Botticelli and more Picasso, and tissue half of it away while we cry off the other half, bemoaning the extra thirty minutes we’ve just added to prep time before going out.

When it comes to eye shadow, everyone has to start somewhere. There are some foundations (again, pun intended) that non-makeup artists would do well to learn the same way that their professional counterparts do. For my fellow makeup laypersons, here’s a list of commonly used terms and some helpful tips on eyeshadow application.

Kim Kardashian Eye Makeup Video, Part 3

How To Highlight Contour Your Face with Makeup Bronze kim-kardashian-contoured-faceYou guys loved the Part 1: Face and Part 2: Eyes video how-tos from Kim Kardashian’s smoky eye makeup lessons video series, and now we’re going to discuss the gorgeous celebrity’s Part 3: Final Touches on the Smokey Eye. As with the last installment, I’ll provide you guys with a highlight reel:

  • Kim’s makeup artist Stephen Moleski applies MAC Paint Pot in a shimmery creme to the inner corners of her eyes with an eyeshadow brush.
  • Kim’s favorite mascaras include Lancome Hypnose and MAC Zoom Lash.(OMG that’s one of my favorites too!)
  • Stephen uses the MAC angled brush to press MAC Carbon black eyeshadow as an eyeliner into Kim’s lashline.
  • Kim’s brows are filled in with the same angled brush using MAC eyeshadow in Espresso, which Stephen adorably pronounces “ex-pressoh“.

Kim Kardashian Smoky Eye Makeup Tips, Part Deux!

Kim-Kardashian-Makeup-Try-This-At-Home-InstagramFollowing Kim Kardashian this closely makes me feel like the paparazzi, but as long as she keeps providing such useful and coveted makeup tips, I don’t really have a choice.

I discovered recently that long ago, Kim Kardashian posted a 4-part video series on how to apply smoky eye makeup. The second video in the series offers a lot more in the way of eye makeup application tips than the first, which was more of a prep & prime video.
