Celebrity Makeup Tips From Kim Kardashian

Since we’re addicted to Kim Kardashian’s makeup tips now, here are some more secrets to Kim-licious beauty that the celeb posted on her blog. Kim has a word of warning for you, though: you may not be as naturally gorgeous as she is!

“Remember that everyone’s color is different,” Kim notes. “Even if you think we have the same skin coloring, our tones can be different and I don’t want anyone to waste money on concealer or foundation colors that aren’t absolutely perfect!” Aww. How sweet.

Here’s Kim Kardashian’s step by step guide to copying her makeup:

Step 1: Prepping Your Face

Kim starts with a clean face, then applies Intuit Anger Management Photo Shoot. “Intuit is a great company and I love the names of their products. Photo Shoot is a make up primer. I put it on after my moisturizer.” Kim says Photo Shoot “is like a moisturizer that will fill the [pores] on your face which will help set the foundation so it will last longer.”

Step 2: Conceal The Deal

Kim uses Cle De Peau concealer stick in Ochre (“It’s super expensive, but works for me,” she says… darn people with money). She also uses MAC concealer (I assume she means Studio Finish, since she says it “comes in a little pot”) in NW25. “I put the concealer under my eyes because I absolutely hate dark circles! I also use concealer to cover up blemishes!”

Step 3: Applying Foundation

For her foundation, Kim mixes one pump of Make Up Forever Liquid Lift in #5 Golden Beige and two pumps of #4 Medium Beige to get the perfect color. “I also have No. 3 for the winter time when I am really pale,” Kim says. She blends them with MAC Brush No. 180.

Step 4: Kim Uses Concealer Again!

“Since I hate dark circles, after the foundation I put on a little more concealer just under my eyes since the foundation makes it darker under my eyes. I use a lighter concealer from M.A.C. NW30.” I’m impressed – this girl is devoted!

Step 5: Finishing With Powder

To set her foundation, Kim lightly brushes on MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder in NC30 with a big powder brush, then adds a little in NW45 “to make me look tanner”. (Does she need to look tanner? Survey here says no.)

Step 6: Applying Blush

“I’m obsessed with blush!” Kim admits. “I use a color called Gingerly to warm me up and give me a little color and then add a pink color called Cheek to give me rosey cheeks. I just started getting into cream blush and find it works a lot better and lasts a lost longer.”

Step 7: Kim Kardashian’s Famous Eye Makeup

Kim first puts on enough MAC Paint Pot in Painterly to cover the lid. “This creamy shadow makes it so that the powder eye shadow does not crease,” Kim notes. Here are Kim’s favorite eyeshadow choices for various color schemes:

  • For black, she uses MAC Carbon;
  • For grey smokey eyes, Kim uses MAC in Knight Divine or Print;
  • For brown shadow, Kim likes MAC Embark;
  • For a fresh shimmery look, Kim likes MAC Pigment in Tan;
  • For brighter colors, Kim loves eyeshadows by Make Up For Ever. “I don’t think anyone does pigment colors better than them,” she says.

Step 8: Kim’s Eyeliner

Kim says she always wears black pencil eyeliner. Her favorite is Stila Eye Pencil in Onyx.

Step 9: Applying Mascara

“Putting on mascara completes the look,” Kim instructs. For Kardashian-caliber lashes, start with MAC Zoom, then apply Lancome Hypnose on top. Kim always separates her lashes with a brush. “I am completely clueless on how to put false lashes on, so I only wear them for photo shoots sometimes,” Kim admits. (She should read my fake lashes guide!)

Step 10: Kim’s Lipstick and Lip Gloss

Kim usually lightly applies M.A.C. Lipliner in Stripdown, then tops MAC Angel lipstick with NARS Turkish Delight lip gloss. For a very nude, matte lip, Kim wears Nars Belle De Jour paired with MAC Subculture lipliner.
