You don’t know you’re beautiful – but now boy band powerhouse One Direction wants to be what makes you beautiful. Yes, Liam, we know, we don’t need makeup to cover up – but sometimes it’s just fun to play with.
That’s what this whole line is about: fun, wild, crazy makeup. And while it may be directed at their younger fans, I am totally unashamed to say that I loved playing with these kits and am integrating them into my looks. You girls know I like to get a little wild while I primp, after all.
After my harrowing encounter with pink mascara, you’d think I’d be sane enough to leave the colored stuff alone. But no. Seriously, wild mascara colors can add awesome pop to any look, particularly Vegas or New Years Eve makeup.
I’ve actually come to love blue mascara, and the one in this set is ah-mazing. The package suggests that you can make a more subtle statement by adding a pop of “colour” (oh, UK) to the tips of your lashes, but being me, I slathered this on top and bottom. I LOVE that you can also use it as a hair mascara.
Mascara Shades:
Get this, chicks: Liquilights Glow Gloss sparkles brilliantly during the day and illuminates under UV black light after dark. No really – it’s glow in the dark.
The gloss can be worn alone for a pop of sparkle and color, or paired with One Direction crème lipstick for a bolder look. Personally, I filled in my lips with lip liner (remember I told you to do that?) and then applied the poppy shade on top of it. The shade lasted REALLY well (even through a coffee or three).
My very first thought for this was, how many billions of clubs and parties in Vegas or on New Years Eve have those lights? This is totally making its way into my New Year’s Eve makeup look. Then at midnight, you can say yeayeayeahhh and let him kiss you! (Are you sick of these lyrics references yet?)
Lip Gloss Shades:
If you’re a girl and you say you don’t love glitter, you’re probably lying. The 1D nail kit has neon UV-reactive Nail Varnish and UV-reactive glitter nail toppings that add sizzle for nails that light up day and night.
Of course, you can just sprinkle a little glitter over wet polish, but what do you think I did?
