MAC Cosmetics Master Class: Bridal Makeup + MUA Interview

Did you guys know I’m getting married?!

Oh yeah. This is happening, and it will be Sassy-brand epic from top to bottom.

Managing the top: hair and makeup, of course. I got a rare opportunity to attend a @MACCosmetics Bridal Makeup-themed Master Class and interview the renowned Tiffany Johnston, dual-decade MAC-inista whose roster is too long and star-studded to list. (But let’s just say there’s more than one Kardashian on it.)

Here’s our quick interview before the festivities, where I suss out the guts of things:

I got to see the real deal live in the Master Class itself – some of which I even Periscoped for you (click the link in the Tweet to watch):

Let me preface this by saying I’m not a makeup artist (I just brush a lot) – but I feel pretty enlightened as far as cosmetics are concerned. That said, listening to Tiffany was like hearing a golden goddess of makeup. Everything was illuminated. Even my notes came out very lovely looking:

I won’t go into great detail – you should really attend a class yourself! – but here were some of my favorite notes:

  • Certain otherwise-popular frosty highlights, such as top-of-browbone and tear-corner (two of my favorites) aren’t actually advisable for bridal makeup; they can look dated, too strong, or even make you look cross-eyed. Yeow!
  • A deep colored cream contour can look feathery and blend beautifully on almost any skin tone, which is why Tiffany prefers products like Studio Fix over powder contours.
  • More important than the ubiquitous primer: great skin prep with moisturizers and similar products. Tiffany’s go-tos are Fix+ and Natural Radiance.

Want proof she can make a fab bridal look in 45 minutes or less? Here’s our threlfie:

That’s her blushing would-be bride in the center. Booooom -fabulosity incarnate. Now if only I could afford her for my big day!

  • This sounds awesome, I would love to go...how much is it? is it more if you don't have a cosmetology licence (yet)? They should make one where it is targeted to regular women as well. And brides

  • Congrats on your engagement! How exciting! Whoever he is is very lucky! :) and I love MAC so this is great!
