Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer Review

Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer Ad BlondeSmashbox’s Photo Finish line of foundation primers has received amazing hype, and it just wouldn’t be Sassy Dove if I didn’t try a product with so much press. My uneven skin tone persuaded me to pick up the Color Correcting formula in Blend, which at the price seemed like the safest buy (’cause who wants to be left with a big tub of green stuff?)

First of all, the primer’s texture is fabulous. I thought it would be greasy from how oily it seemed coming out of the container, but it went on silky and felt great. It has a mild but pleasant citrus scent.

As far as color correcting goes, Photo Finish does correct redness and the dark circles under my eyes, but the effect isn’t overwhelming. I was a little concerned because its shade looked dark and sort of orange-y in the bottle, but it looked natural and pretty on my pale but warm-toned skin. Now if you have deep circles or a real zit, you’ll still need concealer/foundation, but that’s part of the point, isn’t it?

Appropriately, Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer is best at prepping skin for foundation. It’s very effective at helping my makeup last all day without touch ups. Foundation goes on smooth, fine lines are filled in, and pores look smaller. Makeup glides on nicely, and I seem to need less product to cover my face. (Keep in mind that if you have dry or flaky skin, you’ll still need to use a good moisturizer underneath. The primer makes skin smooth, but won’t add extra moisture or oil.) Make up seems to stay in place better & longer as well, and under-eye concealer goes on much much nicer. Overall, I was very impressed.

The verdict: 10/10!  if you’re going to use a foundation primer, this is the way to go.

Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer sells at Amazon for $29.99.
