Sugar Cosmetics Sugartint Tinted Moisturizer Review

Keeping on the tinted moisturizer theme, I tried Sugar Cosmetics’ Sugar Tint oil-free tinted moisturizer and I’m a bit confused. How exactly are cosmetics companies differentiating between tinted moisturizer and foundation now? This and You Rebel were both quite thick and offered a lot of coverage (not that I’m complaining).

This product applies a lot like BeneFit You Rebel too; the texture is thick and creamy, and a little goes a long way. If you use too much, you’ll know it, and it’s not hard to do. The coverage is a lot heavier than your traditional tinted moisturizer (just call it foundation already!) – it was enough for me to wear over my undereye circles and acne. I always feel good when I wear SPF, so both products give me that “I’m doing something for my skin and I look hot” glee.

Now for the differences from You Rebel. First of all, it smells a heck of a lot better – Sugar replaced the scent of fake tanner with a nice combination of coconut and something mildly fruity. And finally, this product’s only downside: it is way too dark for me. Seriously, why do they make these things in only one color? I now see why BeneFit had to lighten theirs up. Luckily, it blended very nicely so I smudged it down my neck and you couldn’t really tell. Still, it was so distracting that I felt self-conscious. No bueno!

The verdict: 6/10 – I like the product overall, but it’s simply too dark and the fact that it’s only available in one shade annoys me. What’s the deal, Sugar? People are different colors!
