2026 has already been one wild year. The last few years have been all about minimalism and basics, and that won’t stop for 2026. Our focus on luxury and quality objects will continue into summer fashion this year, too.
Fashion has a really cool way of keeping you going. If you are feeling low and need a mood uplift, wearing a bright red lipstick or dying your hair can do wonders. Dressing up and feeling good about yourself is the best gift you can give to yourself to maintain sanity. Here’s a quick roundup of what will rule the summer fashion circuit in 2026.
Thanks to climate change, the summers are getting way too harsh to be able to wear anything other than cotton. This is especially true if you are in a hot and humid area. Last year, 100% linen was the fad; this year, the TikTokers will all be swooning over “100% Cotton” labels. Retailers like Gap will capitalize big on this. Light-colored, breathable cotton tops can still make you feel like a diva. A crisp white button-down cotton shirt should be a staple garment in everyone’s closet. Besides button-downs, sleeveless blouses, off-shoulders, crop tops, and other weather-friendly cuts can work with trendy bottoms for a classy ensemble.
We really milked the set thing in 2024 and 2025, but they will be out for 2026. It’s all about separates now. Jeans are not going anywhere, even in summer. If Katseye inspired you to a jeans upgrade in 2025, ride that wave, or else run to Abercrombie. Legs will stay wide, flare or bootcut at the narrowest. Keep the leggings home for a Youtube Pilates workout; even gymwear will be yoga pants.
Skirts are going to be huge this season. Flared cuts, straight cuts, long hems, short hems, side slits, no slits, whatever works for you. If paired right, a skirt brings in a lot of elegance and femininity to your wardrobe. We think the silk skirt will make its return from hibernation yet again (woo-hoo!).
Sneakers and flip flops historically dominate summer dawgs, but this year will continue last year’s obsession with the resort shoe. A classy brown leather slide of a sandal (think Hermes) will still hit. We’ll get a little saucier and keep living our best 2000s life with more straps, more glitter, and more height returning.
Recently, leather has ruled the bag market, but canvas bags will return for the summer. We’re keeping 2025’s Amalfi-coast vibe going, so fun, art deco, summery graphics could be featured. The wicker bags of last year will return, but in a more understated form. Bag charms will become lobsters where they were cherries, then lobsters will become cringe before summer is even over. And the cycle continues.
