Makeup Reviews: Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation

adriana-lima-and-maybelline mineral power liquid foundation reviewMaybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Foundation is the liquid version of Maybelline’s Bare Escentuals-esque mineral powder foundation. I tried it in Light Beige, and I have to say that the shade bordered a bit on orange-y. My skin has warm yellow undertones so I’m not exactly complaining, but who’s heard of an orangey beige?

This SPF 18 foundation offers an on-the-fence type of coverage, definitely not sheer and definitely not full. While it seemed to mask minor discoloration like dark undereye circles well, my blemishes showed right through, so plan on using a concealer in conjunction with this baby if you’ve got zits.

Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer Review

Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer Review - Face Makeup Reviews Christy TurlingtonThe mineral makeup craze is booming – so much so that even our drugstore pals Maybelline couldn’t help but get in on the action! Let’s try out the new rating system on Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer.

coverage: 5/5
For a drugstore product, I was very impressed with this concealer’s coverage. This baby blotted out my dark undereye circles with the greatest of ease!

texture: 3/5
While it was thick and matte, the finish wasn’t amazing and was almost grainy-looking. Still, I thought it made my skin look more natural than most concealers do, and it blended easily (at least to my skin in color Fair: Light 0-1).

Eye Makeup Review: Maybelline Define-A-Lash Mascara

Eye Makeup Reviews Maybelline Define-A-Lash MascaraI got Maybelline’s Define-A-Lash mascara in #601 Very Black and I’m trying a new makeup rating system for mascaras, so check it out:

lengthening: 5/5
Wow! Define-A-Lash made my eyelashes look a half-inch longer. Seriously!

separating: 4/5
My lashes were well-defined, but the mascara didn’t find all of them. Try this instead: L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Mascara

curling: 5/5
An unexpected bonus! My lashes reached for the sky.

Maybelline XXL Curl Power Volume+Length Mascara

Maybelline XXL Curl Power Volume Length Mascara Adriana LimaI got a Maybelline coupon from CVS, so I decided to try out the XXL Curl Power mascara. It’s one of those double-sided numbers: one end is used to prime the lashes, and the other is your typical mascara.

I have a theory that mascaras with the white primer for “volume” are psychological: you coat your lashes in white color, and then must continue to apply mascara until all the white is covered so you don’t look like Ziggy Stardust. Then, because you’ve put in more than your usual lazy one-coat effort, voila! Your lashes are more voluminous. Unfortunately for Maybelline, I normally apply about twelve coats, so I’m onto their game.

Eye Makeup Review: Maybelline Shadow Stylist Loose Powder Eyeshadow

Eye Makeup Review Maybelline Shadow Stylist Loose Powder Eyeshadow CalendarI often find regular powder eyeshadows smudge too easily, so I’m attracted to products like this with alternative application methods. I purchased Maybelline Shadow Stylist Loose Powder Eyeshadow in both Contemporary White and Romantic Pink (blushy shades are supposed to highlight blue eyes well). Both colors are nice and intense. The “loose powder” part of the description doesn’t exactly translate when you apply it – it feels more like a cream – but that’s fine with me, as again, I’m trying to avoid the mess.

I don’t really feel white has much place in general shadow use such as applying all over the eyelid, but I use it often for highlighting the inside corners and lower inner rim of my eyes. The applicator is a classic felt tip similar to many eyeliners, and I love it. Regular shadow is too much work to get pure color out of – go with a product like this instead!

The verdict: 10/10! There’s really nothing bad to say about it. If you want intense, easy to apply eye color, here it is.

Maybelline Shadow Stylist Loose Powder Eyeshadow sells at Amazon.com for $12.64.
