Montagne Jeunesse Foot Soak and Lotion Review

montagne jeunesse foot soak reviewWant to know what the best job ever is? Hands down, in my opinion, it’s the one where you get to make kids happy all day. I was watching the guy at Jumpstreet who runs the mechanical bull and noticed how full of joy he seemed just to play his small part in making children laugh. I had a similar experience as a teenager working at the Great American Cookie Company, where we often partnered with the Libby Lu across the way to throw birthday parties for little girls. Seriously, there’s nothing better than watching a six year old scream with delight at a puff of glitter.

One thing little girls love possibly more than acting like baby princesses: acting like their mommies. The whole spa-facial thing is surprisingly popular with the kindergarten set. The kids loved when we used Montagne Jeunesse Masks on their cute little mugs, so I figured maybe I’d like them too. I bought several at Walgreens including the Gel Cream, Mud and Peel-Off Masks, but my favorite was their Foot Soak and Foot Lotion combination pack.

The first step of the duo is to soak your feet in a bowl of lukewarm water mixed with the Soothing Pink Grapefruit Foot Soak for 10-15 minutes. After only 5 minutes, my feet felt noticeably softer. I loved getting to sit back and relax as if I were getting a pedicure (minus the massage chair- an investment I’m very keen to make someday). I suggest using it with a foot bath like the ones at nail salons. The soak had an almost lemony scent.

Fish Pedicures: The Cadillac of Flesh-Eating Spa Treatments

fish pedicuresI used to think mud baths were weird. Now the  is giving me a new procedure to balk at: fish pedicures.

How does it work? Customers’ tootsies are submerged in a tub of 100 flesh-eating fish called “doctor fish,” which then nibble away at the dead skin on your feet. (The fish are toothless.) The Yvonne Hair and Nails Salon in Washington, D.C.’s owner, John Ho, claims that the hot water in which the fish thrive doesn’t support much plant life, so the fish learn to feed on whatever was available — including dead, flaking skin. They leave live skin alone because, without teeth, they can’t bite it off.

How-To: Get Soft, Pretty Feet!

How-To Get Soft, Pretty Feet FlowersAre you sick of your rough, callused feet? Of course you are! It’s no secret women want every (and I mean every) part of their bodies to be soft and pretty. Unfortunately, your feet are literally at the bottom of the barrel, and most of us ignore them until they feel like sandpaper. Fear not, my fellow foul-footed females – the Dove is ditching the makeup for a day and teaching you how to make your tootsies trendy & touchable – no pedicure required! Read on and get a foot fetish! …er… you know what I mean.

Step 1: Slough What’s Rough

Grab some Epsom salt at the drugstore and toss a couple spoonfuls of it in a warm bath. Dip those haggard feet in there and soak, soak, soak. As soon as your feet feel comfortable in the water, grab an exfoliating salt scrub like Arbonne Awaken Sea Salt Scrub and scrub the bottoms of your feet like a madwoman. (I suggest salt-based, but sugar is also an option; the usual benefit to using sugar instead of salt, however, is that it’s less likely to irritate and inflame skin. Since the skin on the bottom of my feet is pretty comparable to the exterior of an armored car, gentle handling really isn’t necessary.) Rub the entire foot – this means the bottom, top, ankles, ball, heel, big toe and bottom again – vigorously until your foot closely resembles a steak tartare. No pain, no gain, baby!
