My rule on longwear lipcolor has always been to divide the number of hours it claims to last by three to get a closer estimate of how long the product will stick around. The hardest part, though, is finding lip gloss that actually looks good while it stays on. Luckily, I’ve discovered L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lip Gloss.
The applicator tip is the key to this product’s genius – it’s bent at an angle, making it easy to apply the gloss evenly in just one swipe per lip, while the pointed tip makes neatly covering the outer corners of lips and the arches under the Cupid’s bow a breeze.

Definitive proof that Vicky’s isn’t always overpriced: I got the Beauty Rush lip gloss AND a racerback shirt proclaiming “Delicious” that Britney Spears was once seen wearing as a GWP. (That’s a gift with purchase for those of you who aren’t obsessed with throwing away all of your disposable income.) Okay, Britney was bald at the time, but it’s still like vicarious star power in my opinion.
This gloss is exactly what you’ll expect when you see the tube: thick, mildly tasty, shiny, and so-light-I’m-not-even-a-color pink. Being your traditional gooey formula, it possesses the age-old gloss downfalls. Most noticeably, it spreads like mononucleosis at a Demi Lovato concert – you will undoubtedly need a Q-tip/tissue/bath towel to clean the edges of your mouth after applying. Does anyone else look at the perfectly shaped, plasticlike shiny lips of models in makeup ads and think, “PHOTOSHOPPED!”? I sure did, but new evidence suggests that may not be the case.
Enter Estee Lauder High Gloss Ultra Brilliance, which I own in three shades: 13 Berry, 06 Jewel, and 03 Honey. I got the Berry first, and I was immediately hooked. The shine is absolutely the most intense I’ve every seen, and the coverage is thick, making my lips look huge and have mirror-like shine a la modern comic book vixens – or perhaps porn stars. (My first thought of what it looks like is the reflected and injected pout of Jenna Jameson and Co., but I don’t want to put you guys off of it. It’s excellent.) And the Berry isn’t dark at all; rather, it is absolutely perfect for an everyday light pink.

I really hate “extended wear” lipcolor in general because most of it is, for lack of a better term, bullshit. Like most women, I have tried to pull off red lip color with this technique in the hopes that an hour later, more will be on my lips than my teeth. Sadly, the result usually involves the color flaking and me rubbing it off my lips all night. So I was skeptical about trying Maybelline’s new approach to the concept, but the gloss surprised me. I bought #103, Rhinestone Pink, attempting to get an all-day solution to my constant application of light pink shimmery gloss.

Let’s face it: all drugstore cosmetics girls love Maybelline. So today I’m reviewing Maybelline shiny-licious lip gloss. I own two shades of this, #40 lolly pink and #90 melon ball. I enjoy Lolly Pink the most – it looks natural but still shiny. While it doesn’t feel sticky on your lips, it will if you get any on your fingers. The applicator is a plushy fabric tip, making it smooth and comfortable to apply but hard to clean.
