Us beauty addicts all work hard on keeping our faces beautiful every day – but what about making sure the rest of our bodies are gorgeous? Here are some tips and tricks for taking care of your scalp, elbows, knees, and more of those neglected areas you probably don’t think about beautifying often:
- If your scalp is flaky and itchy, massage it once a week for 5 minutes with a mixture of olive oil and a crushed up aspirin. The aspirin adds salicylic acid to gently exfoliate the area and remove dead skin cells.
- To quell redness on your elbows, apply a hydro cortisone cream before applying your moisturizer.
- Remove bumps on your arms by using an at-home microdermabrasion kit. (They’re made for your face, but don’t worry – your arms can take it.) We like Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion & Peel Kit.
- Clean your hands with antibacterial wipes instead of ultra-drying soap and water.
- Deliver moisture to those hard to reach spots on your back by using a dry oil body spray like Tarte Celebutante Dry-Oil Shimmer Spray.
- To ward off dry heels, rub in a lactic acid lotion twice daily followed by a rich foot cream.
- Shower at night: your body naturally feels colder in the morning when you’ve just gotten out of bed, so showering at night will make you less tempted to use super hot water, which robs your body of moisture.
- Don’t forget to exfoliate your hands too! Dead skin builds up at the tops of your palms.
- Rub some aloe vera over your eyebrows and the surrounding skin. We remember to pluck them, but we often forget what an irritating effect tweezing has on the skin.
- Rid yourself of dark skin on knees and elbows by applying a paste of 1 crushed Vitamin E caplet, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of milk. Massage and leave on dark knees and elbows for 15 minutes before washing off.
Great tip for the dark skin areas…my ex sister-in-law suffers from dark skin in her underarms so I will definitely be sharing that one with her!
So glad we could help out! 🙂 Cell turnover really is key.
Thanks for sharing yopur thoughts about makeup reviews.
