Makeup Reviews: Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation

adriana-lima-and-maybelline mineral power liquid foundation reviewMaybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Foundation is the liquid version of Maybelline’s Bare Escentuals-esque mineral powder foundation. I tried it in Light Beige, and I have to say that the shade bordered a bit on orange-y. My skin has warm yellow undertones so I’m not exactly complaining, but who’s heard of an orangey beige?

This SPF 18 foundation offers an on-the-fence type of coverage, definitely not sheer and definitely not full. While it seemed to mask minor discoloration like dark undereye circles well, my blemishes showed right through, so plan on using a concealer in conjunction with this baby if you’ve got zits.

Lipgloss Reviews: Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss

Lipgloss Reviews Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss Adriana LimaDefinitive proof that Vicky’s isn’talwaysoverpriced: I got the Beauty Rush lip gloss AND a racerback shirt proclaiming “Delicious” thatBritney Spears was once seen wearing as a GWP. (That’s a gift with purchase for those of you who aren’t obsessed with throwing away all of your disposable income.) Okay, Britney was bald at the time, but it’s still like vicarious star power in my opinion.

This gloss is exactly what you’ll expect when you see the tube: thick, mildly tasty, shiny, and so-light-I’m-not-even-a-color pink. Being your traditional gooey formula, it possesses the age-old gloss downfalls. Most noticeably, it spreads like mononucleosis at a Demi Lovato concert – you will undoubtedly need a Q-tip/tissue/bath towel to clean the edges of your mouth after applying. Maybelline XXL Curl Power Volume+Length Mascara

Maybelline XXL Curl Power Volume Length Mascara Adriana LimaI got a Maybelline coupon from CVS, so I decided to try out the XXL Curl Power mascara. It’s one of those double-sided numbers: one end is used to prime the lashes, and the other is your typical mascara.

I have a theory that mascaras with the white primer for “volume” are psychological: you coat your lashes in white color, and then must continue to apply mascara until all the white is covered so you don’t look like Ziggy Stardust. Then, because you’ve put in more than your usual lazy one-coat effort, voila! Your lashes are more voluminous. Unfortunately for Maybelline, I normally apply about twelve coats, so I’m onto their game.

Eye Makeup Review: Rimmel Lash Maxxx Mascara

Eye Makeup Review Rimmel Lash Maxxx Mascara Kate MossAs my faithful readers know, I’m a huge fan of comb mascaras, and I was particularly impressed with Telescopic’s flexible plastic bristles. So Rimmel’s brush that combines the one-sided bristles of Lash Stylist’s comb and the flexibility of L’Oreal’s Telescopic seemed destined for success – plus, Kate Moss is in the ad! It has to be fabulous, right?

The packaging is adorable – both super feminine and high fashion at once. And the price is certainly right. But while the separating effect was great and my lashes still felt soft after two coats, this mascara didn’t give me the volume or length of other comb-brushed mascaras. The spiny plastic also felt a little creepy on my eyes, especially in trying to catch the tiny blonde lashes on the inner and outer edges of my lashes.

Review: Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Face Illuminator

Review Victorias Secret Very Sexy Face Illuminator Adriana LimaI admit: I have a sick obsession with Victoria’s Secret. However, I rarely make it to the beauty side of the store. But when the Very Sexy line debuted, I was intrigued. It seemed more professional and high-end than Vicky’s previous sort of impulse-buy-with-your-panties makeup.

I tried the Very Sexy Face Illuminator in Glow, and I was impressed. It’s a light shimmer creme that’s about the texture of concealer. A perfect highlighter that complements best spread high on the cheekbones, it’s also excellent on the bridge and tip of your nose, apples of your cheeks, or the browbone.
