Meet Your New Makeup Contouring Best Friend.

Sometimes, my makeup game falls into a rut. I start using the same stuff every day, never really loving the finished look the way I once did, and feeling uninspired.

Luckily, somehow makeup inspiration psychically knows when it’s time to strike. It’s arrived in the form of Pur Minerals’ Cameo Contour. It literally just showed up on my doorstep like an early Christmas present (in case you weren’t sure yet whether or not you were jealous of my job… nyah nyah). Adovia Dead Sea Salt Deep Hair Conditioner Review

Adovia Mineral Balsam ConditionerDisclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I’ll admit, I have a negative association with “Dead Sea” themed beauty. Back in high school, I was bamboozled by a pushy salesman at a kiosk in my mall into $150 of Dead Sea skincare products. Did they work? Sure, but I didn’t want to spend $150 to make that happen. The “hard sell” doesn’t turn me on.

Still, as you know, I’m very into natural haircare products. I was impressed with the ingredients list on the Adovia Dead Sea Salt Conditioner, and the product is unique in that it not only features natural goodness but also mineral goodness. Say what? Minerals are big in makeup, but I’ve never heard of them in haircare. Can this really work?

The answer is, oh yessirree bob. Dead Sea salt, it turns out, contains over 21 skin and hair rebuilding minerals such as magnesium, calcium, sulfur, bromide, iodine, sodium, zinc and potassium. And this conditioner is made with 100% pure, genuine Dead Sea salt. It’s also got aloe and other hair happiness.

Summer Sun Care at Whole Foods

WFM_SunCareBloggerEvent_PosterThe summer is upon us, and that means it’s time to protect our skin from the harsh rays of the sun. I was fortunate enough to attend an educational blogger event at the Whole Foods store in Paradise Valley, where many different sun care products were featured. All natural sun care is so much better than the traditional chemical-filled stuff – eww!

I learned tons at this event, including how mineral sunscreen differs from chemical sunscreen. Mineral sunscreen sits on top of your skin and doesn’t have to soak in, so it begins working immediately. (With chemical sunscreens, you have to wait 15 minutes or so for it to sink in and be effective.) Most importantly, mineral sunscreen doesn’t have chemicals soaking into your skin. Much healthier!

A whole list of organic-friendly suncare tips is in the pic to the left. Check it out, Scout!

Best of Sassy Dove

young_woman_wearing_party_hat_with_party_blower_Guess what, ladies? This is my 210th post! That’s right, Sassy Dove has given you over two hundred different blatherings about makeup, beauty and the generally superficial. Rather than fabricating some silly “Happy Postiversary” holiday (I much prefer Postivus, myself), I’ve decided to show you guys some of my favorite posts and products in Sassy Dove’s illustrious history. We can call it My Favorite Things, like Oprah! Only you don’t get free stuff. Sorry!

Makeup Reviews: Pur Minerals Pressed Powder Foundation

It seems there’s a new mineral makeup foundation on the shelves every day, but Pur Minerals was among the first to the craze along with their Bare colleagues. I’m a bit behind the times in just now reviewing my first Pur Minerals products, but I have to say, it was well worth the wait!

Unlike a lot of mineral makeup foundations, Pur Minerals didn’t leave my face overly shiny. Because the powder is pressed, it’s also much cleaner than the loose powder forms mineral makeup often takes. The foundation gives beautiful coverage without the cakiness I expected from the pressed format. The buffing brush (called by Pur Minerals a “chisel brush“) is one of the best performing of its kind, too – the foundation didn’t rub off as I swirled it on, nor were the bristles the least bit prickly.
