I love my red locks, but I was looking for more of that shiny hair-commercial look on a daily basis. Along came Nexxus’ new Oil Infinite line, and I was lucky enough to get a chance to review it myself in a video we filmed for Nexxus at Walmart. Boom!
Dullness is my biggest hair problem these days, so I was stoked when my Paul Mitchell Insiders package this month included the MirrorSmooth line. Shine bright like a diamond, y’all!
So there’s science and stuff behind this whole thing – the big Mitch’s exclusive KeraReflect blend features natural Abyssinian oil for brilliant shine, awapuhi extract for optimal moisture, strengthening keratin protein and thermal protectors for heat-stylin’ addicts like myself. #icantquityou Continue reading Shine Bright Like a Diamond: Paul Mitchell MirrorSmooth Review #PMInsiders
More and more, it seems, ladies are coloring their hair shades of red or adding red tones to give their manes some more grrrr. I’m my own example. I love the way the sunlight hits my hair and seems to set it on fire when I’ve got it a nice deep red. People are always asking me how I get this vibrant color – but the trick isn’t getting it, it’s keeping it.
The only problem: whether you’re faking natural ginger a la Amy Pond or channeling a fire engine like Eva Marie, red fades quickly. Want to know the reason behind this? It’s actually pretty interesting (to a person like me who enjoys useless trivia, anyway). Okay, here it is:
I mentioned having problems with dullness in my hair recently, so I thought a post about some solution might be of use to any of my readers who despise those Pantene ads where Laetitia Casta’s hair looks like a big brunette ribbon of glossiness.
Unfortunately, I have to tell you that it’s your fault your hair looks like dishwater. Too much heat styling (of which I am also guilty) causes dullness due to the loss of moisture. So if you must blow dry every time you shampoo, or perhaps you’re in permanent love with your flat iron (this means you!) – lay off. It’s not helping!
If you’re among the beauty-concerned, you’ve probably heard claims of the miracle shampoo and conditioner Mane and Tail. Being in the beauty business, I have constant conversation on the topic, and time and time again people have said to me, “If you want your hair to grow fast, use Mane & Tail!” I jump for anything that involves speedy hair growth, so I tried it as soon as I could get my hands on it.
“Isn’t that for horses?” you may be asking yourself. The answer is yes, some people do use Mane & Tail for horses and that was its original use. However, that doesn’t mean it contains any magical, scary horse genes. You won’t start neighing if you use it, trust me – we share many product favorites with horses, including hairbrushes, carrots and sugar cubes.
