Being a college student, one must be conscious of their diet and eat properly to fuel up his or her body. Healthy diet – Consuming food and being on a healthy diet means one ends up getting the right quantity of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. For this to happen, a minimum of two whole cups filled with vegetables, one whole cup of fruits, a couple of servings of whole grains and two to three complete servings of rich proteins is mandatory.

Therefore, try to add one fruit or veggie to every whole meal consumed and avoid junk to the maximum possible extent.

Alternatives – On a daily basis, be sure to consume raisins, sliced fruits and fresh ripe berries to a bowl of oatmeal as your breakfast.  While you consume your lunch every day, be sure to grab a few fresh carrots along with your meal. While ending your meal, instead of having ice creams as your dessert go for an apple or banana.

Best Dinner Practise – Dinner also works in the same way. Even if you plan to have pizza for dinner with your friends, you can definitely play along. You can order side salads for your pizzas or add vegetables to your pizza instead of meat.

Importance of Calcium – Calcium is vital for all processes such as muscle functioning, blood clotting, strong bones and for healthy teeth. It has been researched that it is very difficult to add Calcium to your bones after 30 years. Therefore, it is the right time for a person when he is in College to add Calcium to his bones. Dairy products and milk are two rich sources of Calcium. You can consume fresh honey, nuts, or drink a glass of milk every morning and evening. If you do not prefer milk, dark leafy vegetables or almond will enrich you with plenty of Calcium.

Water Intake – Human body needs lots and lots of water. You will not feel good or fresh if you get dehydrated. So always, consume lots of water. In addition, water contains zero calories. Therefore, it is an excellent choice to consider water as your regular beverage if you are watching your weight carefully.

Try the Healthy Way – While you rest in your dorm, instead of munching the junk try healthy alternatives such as dried fruits like raisins, dried form of apricots and other fruits that are dehydrated. Popcorn is considered a whole grain snack as well, so regular popcorn is considered good. However, avoid extra butter. Also, try rice cakes, nuts, and seeds.
