Some days, you have to run straight from office to wine bar – and by 5pm, your face looks more like it’s been taken to the woodshed than the boardroom. What’s a gal to do?
We were invited on Arizona Midday to talk about how to easily transform that day look into a night look. With the help of my blogger friend Stephanie from Conference Calls to Meatballs acting as model (her daytime/before look was actually our mom makeup look from an earlier segment), we show how easy it is to transition one into the other:
A few key notes from the segment to keep in mind:
- Shade and polish. We’re not talking nails – the difference between day and night is all about how dark/vibrant your makeup shades are and how polished your overall look is. If you know you’re going to be transitioning, keep daytime makeup noticeably lighter for a greater contrast.
- Double-duty products. Since bag space is limited, products that can do “double duty” are key. stila Lip & Cheek Stain ($22) is one of our go-tos: build the color up on lips to turn the shade evening-friendly and dab on cheeks (or even lids) to add some healthy color.
- More than makeup. Big, quick non-makeup fixes make a huge difference: switch your day downdo to an updo and add a flashy pair of drop earrings and any other jewelry. Don’t forget hair jewelry! Metallic hairclips and headbands are so in right now.

Wow, you look great. Really good job, you seem made for tv.
Aw thanks! You are too sweet! It was a good time.
