Jealous of Meg Ryan’s ringlets in her chick-flick The Women? (How many chick flicks has this woman been in anyway? “Meg Ryan curly hair” should be a credited SAG actor in 90% of those movies. ) While Meg normally has short curly hair, her curls in this movie are long, luscious and suit her perfectly. We think Meg Ryan’s hair is naturally curly, but here’s a simple formula for achieving Meg’s perfectly defined curls, whether your hair is straight, curly, kinky or somewhere in between!
If you have straight hair:
- Apply volumizing mousse throughout wet hair. Braid the entire head into 4-6 large braids. Gently tie ends with a cloth band.
- Spray Ouidad Styling Mist to set the look. For Meg Ryan curly hair, sit under a dryer or let your hair air dry.
- Once hair is dry, remove the braids and finish the look with a shine serum. Rub the serum into your palms and then run your hands through your hair to distribute the serum evenly.
If you have wavy hair or loose curls:
- After washing and detangling your hair, apply Ouidad Tress FX styling lotion to wet hair.
- Divide hair into 4-6 sections and double strand twist the hair to the ends. To create a double strand twist, take a section of hair, split it in half and twist one half on top of the other. The amount of hair sectioned off will determine the size of the wave pattern…the bigger the section, the fuller the wave.
- Spray each section with Ouidad Styling Mist for hold. Let hair dry naturally or use a diffuser.
- Once the hair is fully dry, gently unwind each section. Finish with a dollop of Ouidad Clear Control Pomade. Rub the serum into your palms and then run your hands through your hair while pulling it into a makeshift ponytail to distribute the pomade evenly.
If you have tight curls:
- After washing and detangling your hair, apply Ouidad Climate Control Gel to wet hair.
- Divide hair into two sections. With each section, make one double stranded twist.
- Allow the hair to air dry almost completely. When the hair is close to being dry, stretch the twist to elongate the curl as much as possible. Then finish drying with a hair dryer.
- Untwist the strands and lightly apply Ouidad Clear Control Pomade. Rub the serum into your palms and then run your hands through your hair while pulling it into a makeshift ponytail to distribute the pomade evenly.
If you have kinky curls:
- After shampooing, apply a leave-in conditioner to wet hair. On top, apply Ouidad Curl Quench Moisture Gel and distribute evenly throughout.
- Using your hands in a combing out effect to help pull the hair straight, dry hair completely.
- Wind a small section of hair around the barrel of a curling iron. Let it set to create the desired wave. Repeat on all remaining sections to set the whole head.
- Finish by applying Ouidad Clear Control Pomade. Rub the serum into your palms and then run your hands through your hair while pulling it into a makeshift ponytail to distribute the pomade evenly.
Remember: if you’re going to use hot tools on your hair, keep strands moisturized by doing a deep conditioning treatment prior to the heat styling.
Very fantastic hair style very good tips thanks.

You’re very welcome! This is my favorite Meg Ryan hair – even over that signature You’ve Got Mail look.
Beautiful photo Sassy Dove but for straight hair i think the instructions are wrong to achieve that look you would have to take SMALL sections of the hair and use a T3 curling wand sadly very expensive but i m sure any good quality spiral curling would be just as good
Okay now THIS is a classy curly hair look that’s not too frizzy. Thank you so much for this, it’s a lifesaver.
