Welcome to Part 2 of a series I created for this Halloween when I went as Dottie Hinson from A League of Their Own – it’s all about OLD HOLLYWOOD makeup. But our lip makeup is also perfect for copying Emma Roberts’ American Horror Story look! (That’s my absolute favorite show on television.)
This part is all about lips and cheeks. Here’s the video so you can see what’s what: Continue reading Old Hollywood Makeup Part 2: Lips & Cheeks [VIDEO]
Ready for some Old Hollywood makeup? I’ve been into the style ever since I dressed as Marilyn Monroe for Halloween (admittedly I did not pull it off as well as Debby Ryan did Marilyn).
This year, I went as Dottie Hinson (the spitfire girl ballplayer played by Geena Davis from A League of Their Own) since I was determined to stay a redhead for Halloween. Dottie’s makeup is Old Hollywood, but a little rougher and dirtier since she likes to play in the clay. I kicked her simpler look up a notch cause, well, I’m not playing baseball outside.

Star of the Disney Channel’s uber-successful “Jessie”, Debby Ryan is near and dear to my heart as a fellow redhead (as is her Disney cohort Bella Thorne!). She dressed up as a rather funny version of Marilyn Monroe in a Halloween episode of Jessie entitled “Ghost Bummers”, but the Instagram selfie she posted (right) was much more beautiful than funny.
To get the look, an absolute must is a powerful, lasting red lipstick – Lime Crime’s Velvetines Red Velvet liquid lipstick will withstand the most pungent Halloween party punch. (If you’re into more traditional- and cheaper- lipsticks, try Julie Hewett Rouge Noir – it’s a long lasting classic red.)
